Family gatherings. The smell of freshly-cut trees. Warm fires on cold nights. Meditations on the life of Jesus. Food.
These are all aspects, though not an exhaustive list, of the Christmas season which make it my favorite time of the year. There is another part of Christmas that causes me great joy: Christmas music.
That’s right. I am a big fan of Christmas music. I don’t know exactly why, but I think it has something to do with it being a reminder of those things I’ve already mentioned. Here are three Christmas albums that will be on shuffle on my Ipod as I drive around this holiday season:
1.) Advent Songs (Sojourn)- This album, released by Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY, is a beautiful album that celebrates the coming of Christ.
2.) Christmas (Michael Bublé)- Filled with all of the Christmas classics, this album always reminds me of childhood Christmases. It’s new, but great.
3.) White Christmas (Bing Crosby)- You can’t talk Christmas albums without talking Bing Crosby.
These aren’t the only 3 I’ll be listening to, but they’ll be getting the majority of the air time in my truck. What other albums would you include?
Sufjan Stevens has a few albums that are quite nice this time of year.
As always, your musical tastes are great. I haven’t listened to Sufjan’s “Songs for Christmas” album, but I almost closed out the post by saying that’s next on my list to purchase.
